neik 873 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 (edited) Hi guys, from compatibilty point of view (e.g. Chromecast, offline watching/download on iOS/Android, etc.) what is best: Having SRTs external or muxed into mkv? Thank you! Edited February 15, 2021 by neik
crusher11 1101 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Are we talking muxed text subs, or original DVDSUB/PGSSUB graphical files from discs?
neik 873 Posted February 15, 2021 Author Posted February 15, 2021 Text based subs, SRT to be specific. For graphical subs I just learned one needs to have them muxed in the file for them to direct play.
rbjtech 5284 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 External .SRT - I've yet to see a device unable to play these. They are also the most flexible, as you can re-time them, add new languages, force them to play, etc - all without remuxing or changing settings in your mkv etc.
