chuckr1958 2 Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Recently started to notice that after a movie is imported and the metadata is updated, the names of the characters played by an actor shows up as "Person". A recent addition was "Wonder Woman 1984" and each metadata on the actor is correct except for the name of the character. I checked both IMDB and the TheMovieDB and the names of the characters are attached to each actor. I've attempted to refresh the metadata and nothing changes. I've attached a screenshot from each.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 What is your metadata provider order set to on the library?
chuckr1958 2 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Posted February 14, 2021 The Open Movie DB was first, before TheMovieDB. I switched the order and refreshed the Wonder Woman 1984 metadata, but now other movies that had character information, such as the photo and actor name but with "Person", completely vanished and even after a refresh, will not pull in the data again.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 (edited) People info will comes from first metadata provider. OMDB does not contain person role in their api data. TMDB has to be first provider if you wish for People Roles. All metadata will have to be Refreshed for all media that shows Person for Role. As you can see this all you get from OMDB Quote {"Title":"Wonder Woman 1984","Year":"2020","Rated":"PG-13","Released":"25 Dec 2020","Runtime":"151 min","Genre":"Action, Adventure, Fantasy","Director":"Patty Jenkins","Writer":"Patty Jenkins (story by), Geoff Johns (story by), Patty Jenkins (screenplay by), Geoff Johns (screenplay by), Dave Callaham (screenplay by), William Moulton Marston (based on characters from DC Wonder Woman created by)","Actors":"Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal","Plot":"Diana must contend with a work colleague and businessman, whose desire for extreme wealth sends the world down a path of destruction, after an ancient artifact that grants wishes goes missing.","Language":"English","Country":"USA, UK, Spain","Awards":"2 wins & 19 nominations.","Poster":"https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BYTlhNzJjYzYtNGU3My00ZDI5LTgzZDUtYzllYjU1ZmU0YTgwXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMjQwMDg0Ng@@._V1_SX300.jpg","Ratings":[{"Source":"Internet Movie Database","Value":"5.4/10"},{"Source":"Rotten Tomatoes","Value":"60%"},{"Source":"Metacritic","Value":"60/100"}],"Metascore":"60","imdbRating":"5.4","imdbVotes":"155,048","imdbID":"tt7126948","Type":"movie","DVD":"N/A","BoxOffice":"$40,300,000","Production":"DC Comics, Warner Bros., DC Entertainment, Atlas Entertainment, The Stone Quarry","Website":"N/A","Response":"True"} Note this was a change when Emby started using People that were returned from OMDB item metadata, Emby previously only used people in TMDB item metadata. chuckr1958 2 Posted February 15, 2021 Author Posted February 15, 2021 I did the refresh, and many movies lost their information on the actors. Nothing else, just the actors. Looking at each movie, I realized that the movies affected were downloaded from Netflix, while others downloaded through iTunes worked fine. I had to delete each movie through Emby and re-add it from a backup and all the data was refreshed normally. However, if you do the refresh again, it removes the actor information. I guess I can't do a global refresh in the future because it will remove all the data from Netflix-added movies. I still have to check more movies. I probably should have kept the two separate which would have made the re-adding easier.
