Premiere subscription usage while no internet

Hello everyone,

i have the pleasure to enjoy some Internet free days. Thought ok, I have my Emby server in my network, enjoy some local content and fine.

This works partially only: When want to play e.g. a music album on iOS I get asked to subscribe or enter my premium key. I have for a long time my premium subscription (monthly renew) and in my server it’s stored and shown correctly.

Emby server runs on Linux via Ethernet connection. My iPad Pro as client via WiFi and the my see each other, I can browse fine but playback results in mentioned “please be premium” message. Just no internet at the moment. Does this cause the message?

I can understand the motivation behind it, but already entered premium key should work if your home internet connection is currently broken.
I use workaround  and directly access the file share and skip the nice UI and rich presentation from Emby. But if especially in these situations have no access to my content, I can directly omit Emby completely and save the bucks per month.

Maybe someone has some details. Thanks.

The routine check of the Premium key is supposed to be cached for a while.  How long has the Internet been off?

Around 10h now. Last active usage of the server was already a couple of days old and the iPad app usage some more.

Hmm; you'll need someone who knows more than me about that to explain it, then.

But I do know that to get it back, you'll have to be connected for a little while.

Specifically, it's not the server but the iOS client that has the problem in this instance, and that's the thing which has lost its validation.  The client validates across the Internet because the server can't validate it, as a count needs to be kept and you may be running multiple servers using the same Premiere licence.

However, you are not lost - you can use a browser on the iPad to get to Emby through the web client.

Hi.  That is the issue.  We do cache the validation but only for a few days.  If it has been several days since you used the app, then the cache may have expired.

Is this in general or specific for the different subscription types? Because a yearly or lifetime subscription could use longer cache lifetime as my current monthly ones.

I will try to connect the iPad via hotspot and see how it goes.
Currently web client is one option I’m using.

Thanks so far for the responses.

The longer subscription does not have a longer cache time, because the issue is keeping up to date with the number of usages of clients that require Premiere.
