Hiltonk 0 Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 (edited) Hi On Jriver Media Centre there is a setting to protect libraries from missing drives. If a drive is missing, the metadata and images are protected from being deleted or modified under these circumstances. Is there a way to achieve the same in Emby and yet still automatically grab metadata and images for new imports? I've had network drives drop off, sometimes for a couple days before I notice and the metadata gets destroyed and images go missing, even after the drive reappears. I've used emby library backup plugin in the past to recover from this a few times but I've had issues where I've done a lot of manual edits and a drive has dropped off the network before the next backup runs and Ive then lost hours of work. Any advice how to configure library settings to protect for this issue? Edited February 13, 2021 by Hiltonk
nmkaufman 50 Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 You could try a combination of saving metadata/images next to your media files, and giving Emby WORM access to those network shares. This would let Emby save the metadata/images to the folder, but never change/delete them. I don't personally restrict Emby, this way, but I do use similar permissions for my NAS to prevent Ransomware.

If you do this, remember it before coming back to us and reporting problems when things are not working.
nmkaufman 50 Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Alright, less controversially, Stablebit (the company who makes Drivepool) makes a program called Stablebit Cloud. I believe it works exactly like Drivepool, but with network/cloud storage. It would combine your local/network/cloud storage into a single virtual folder that Emby could interract with. If any of the constituent disks/services/shares get disconnected, the folder will temporarily become read-only until it's reconnected. This option isn't free, but it's off-the-shelf.
