Unwanted library called playlist

Recommended Posts

I am hoping someone out there can direct me to resolve this issue.

I am using latest version Linux mint (noobie) for my Emby server.  All of a sudden, a new library keeps popping up called "Playlist"

Every time I delete this, a few days later, it comes back.

any suggestions please ?

Hi, this happens because you have playlists. Don't you want to see your playlists?

What do you mean I have playlists?

I have had Emby for about 1 year now, but never say a playlist library before.
I have a movie library and I have a tv show library. I have never made a playlist library?

where is the playlist made?

This is a per user Home Screen setting but hide it.  User icon-Home Screen scroll down to Playlists options and uncheck "Display on home screen".

But as for playlists, they are playlists created within Emby, a plugin, or a m3u file with in your music library.

I did try to play around with playlists and m3u lists for about 1 week, but that was a while ago.
since then I removed all lists because nothing worked like I wanted.
why is it coming back on its own (and it is empty).

how can I remove it completely, so it doesn’t come back for any users?

I guess delete it via Library, but if it returns there is a playlist somewhere even if the library appears empty.  But could be a rogue database entry also.

Any suggestions on how to find and correct?

As long as you have playlists it will keep getting created. Have you explored your emby user home screen settings? Each user can choose to hide libraries from the home screen if they wish.

Should the Playlists library auto hide if empty?

Once it is created, no it doesn't.

So if a empty Playlist library is being created as OP states there has to be a Playlist somewhere in library even if not visible to users or one in the database. By chance is there a access restriction on the User?  Dashboard-Users select user, Access tab

I have hidden that library from all users.
My issue is that it is coming up in the servers settings under the library section.
I have been using Emby for about 1 year and never seen this before. Every time I delete the “playlist” library, it comes back a few days or weeks later for no reason. I am the only one able to make changes to the server.

So there are playlists on the server?  Are just removing access from users?

If so the only way for it to not come back is not having any playlists.

Since we currently do not have user templates, each user has to be configured to not show playlists via User-Home Screen setting

But Playlists are suppose to be reworked in a Future release.

No, there is no playlists on the server.
A playlist folder item appears for no reason in the library section of the server setup.
I keep deleting it and it comes back on its own.
min order to hide it when it comes back, I had to restrict all user to only see the library items I want then to see. For example tv show and movies.

I think I found out what is going on.
Users have the ability to add items in library to a playlist. How can I remove that ability?

if anyone has a suggestion, that would be great.
