botbswco 5 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Music Library, Structure is one folder per album within library folder. Currently Library has 485 Albums/Folders containing Approx 6800 tracks. Genre, Songs and Folders tabs populate normally. When moving to the albums, artist or album artist tab I receive the buffering "swirl" for a second or two and then get 0/0 result, no error message. I can successfully search for artists and albums. If I search for an artist, albums for that artist are displayed. Works as it should on web app and firestick. Note: When I started building this library, I tested the app on ROKU for the first 100 albums or so and it worked OK. Can't tell you at what point it failed. I have enabled debug options on the ROKU but cannot find anywhere to manually send the log file. Server log file is attached. Roku session started @ approx 1300 today 2/11/21. Please let me know if you need any additional info. embyserver.txt
botbswco 5 Posted February 11, 2021 Author Posted February 11, 2021 Web app and Firestick both work OK.
ebr 16169 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Hi. I guess the first thing to try would be the beta of the app. You can install that from the download page on our web site.
botbswco 5 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 Beta App does NOT populate on Albums, Album Artist and Artist tabs. Only change in behavior is that a large, center screen, message of "No Items Found", displays instead of just the 0/0 indication.
ebr 16169 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Please bring up one of the tabs that is empty then immediately send a log from the app and also post the server log here from when you did that. Thanks.
mrfragger 39 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) I haven't checked out music on emby for over 6 months I believe. I just did a test with about 13 folders as albums and it works beautifully. I thought it'd always stay metadata (I don't use any metadata and strip it out) based only and wouldn't allow folders. Well it works with folders so thanks for adding that ability whenever that was done. Now gonna check out audiobooks. Edited February 12, 2021 by mrfragger typo emby
botbswco 5 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 Sorry, turned on dbug items but can't find where to send log. Please see attached pics.
botbswco 5 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 To be clear, after turning on the debug options, I exited the app and then went back in. I did not reboot the roku.
botbswco 5 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 mfragger.....Mine worked too until I got to a number of albums/folders above 100. I don't know exactly when it quit.
speechles 2055 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) You need to press Down once then press Right once. You will land on the toolbar ribbon. Unselect the heart. You have constrained the view to just favorites. We need to explain this better on that screen that the view is constrained and because of that it limits what is shown and may show nothing. These views are remembered. So if you leave it on and expect next time it will unselect or go back to default this will not happen. You must unselect it yourself. The remembering of views is a feature. Each library type can have a different view. The grid views are not reset on entry they are loaded back from last entry. Edited February 12, 2021 by speechles
speechles 2055 Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 @botbswco Apologies for the problem. We will do something to make this much more clear that the reason there are no items is because the user has set options that produce no results. If those options were changed the results would then appear. Thanks for showing us where we need to improve things. ^_~
ebr 16169 Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Good eye speechles. OP - the fact the heard was red was supposed to be an indicator that it is engaged. We will find a way to make this more obvious. We don't need it now but, for sending the logs, scroll to the bottom of your home screen.
botbswco 5 Posted February 13, 2021 Author Posted February 13, 2021 Speechless and ebr, Thanks for the info! It also remembers it across app versions. When I installed the beta, when I went into it the first time, the favorites toggle was set there as well. While we are on this subject, in trying to figure out what was going on, I noticed some inconsistencies. For example, when you turn on favorites while in the albums tab, it activates the filter in albums, album artists, artists and playlists. However in Genre, the icon is activated but the list doesn't get filtered. In folders, neither the icon or the folder is activated. Same behavior if you turn on favorites from album artists, artists and playlists. If you turn on favorites from the genre tab, it activates the icon and filter in all categories except folders. If you activate favorites from folders, the icon and filter is activated only in folders. I think this was the main cause of my confusion. Because genre and folders acted differently, I thought each category had its own favorites toggle. I probably toggled it on in one category and thought it acted correctly when I got a blank because I hadn't set any favorites. Then when I went to another category and it was blank, I probably didn't notice the icon was lit. Also, I don't see any way to designate a Genre as a favorite in ROKU. I can do it in the web app and then see it set as a favorite when I toggle favorites in ROKU but I can't figure out how to designate in ROKU. Thanks again for the help.
ebr 16169 Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Does the favorite filter work for genres in the web app? I didn't think we had the concept of favorite genres actually...
speechles 2055 Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 (edited) We aren't supposed to be expose the filters for genre. I remember that conversation with Luke long ago. Episodes cannot sort and genres cannot allow any filters or sorts. That was the conversation long ago. We can add this to match the web app if favorite genres is allowed. It wasn't allowed because that query might lag the DB and cause significant CPU usage. If that query has changed then maybe we can add it in. Otherwise there was a reason to not allow these behaviors. Edited February 14, 2021 by speechles
botbswco 5 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Posted February 14, 2021 ebr and speechless, In Roku: There is no way, that I can find, to designate/undesignate a genre as a favorite. Navigate to Genres. Genre icons designated in web app as favorites show up with a red heart. Click on the favorites icon and the list of genres is limited to favorites. Click on it again and it goes back to the full list. In the Web App: In Genre, hover over a genre Icon, the play, multi select, favorite and 3 dot buttons appear. If you click on the favorite button, it turns red. If you then nav to a different tab/category and then return to genre, hover over the genre icon you just "turned on" and it is no longer turned on. However, the favorites button does NOT indicate the actual state of the database, i.e. if you designate a favorite genere in web app, navigate to another tab, come back and see that the fav button is not "on", then go to roku, navigate out of and then into Genre to generate a fresh query and the Genre in question still shows up as a favorite. There is no way, that I can find, to actually view the list of favorite genre's in the web app. My main concern is consistency, i.e. the viewer apps all "act" the same, as much as possible, that any given clickable object performs only one function regardless of the screen the object is on and that implementing something via the web app achieves the same result in the viewers. Please let me know if web app session screen captures and/or Roku screen pics can help.
Luke 42077 Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 We'll look at that. Thanks for reporting.
