Can't play some FLAC files: Playback Error! No compatible streams are currently available.

My Emby system (4.5.4.0) is running on a CentOS8 server, hosting all music files, movies, photos, Live-TV, etc..

I converted every CD to FLAC format - years ago and automatically to MP3 afterwards, for some very old media player, able to stream MP3 only - like our ROKU M2000.

I have some issues listening to some title in my library, I can access with other media player like VLC or WinAmp.

I want to use the emby web app to play music in the intranet. I use my Web browser (FIreFox, Vivaldi, etc.) for accessing the emby frontend.

I red many threads covering this behavior and tried to solve the problem myself, but after numerous attempts I have now to give up.

I also didn't find the audio quality settings in the web app.

The following appears in the log file, which is attached while the error message in the title pops up repeatedly.

I started this thread here, because I don't know, wether or not, this is a web apps only topic. I played around with the user transcoding settings for music files also, without any changes.

Hi, yes, Firefox has an incompatibility with some certain kind of flac variations. I don't remember the details exactly, but currently the Emby web app does not detect this and that's the reason why this happens. I'll try to find the threads in the community that pinpoint the specific issue.

@Happy2Play might be better at this than I am.

I tried Firefox today as one of my last options - it is not my favorite ones. I used chrome before and this browser has the same issue - just want to be on the safe side, tried everything possible...

If you open a new browser tab in chrome, then drag the flac file onto the browser tab, does it play?

No, it didn't work - even not reacting.

I didn't find the client settings for quality settings. I always get the info about the exceeded bitrate, but no clue where to change.

I give it up and focus on other things like LiveTV which is a premium feature we can use now since we subscribed to our testing period. ;)

I play the FLAC files with Winamp in my office - this works since centuries.

@Happy2PlayI will give it a try, clean those files for testing.

If you can't drag the flac file onto an empty Chrome tab and have it start playing audio, then that means the browser is having trouble with that particular file.

These situations can sometimes be difficult for us to detect because when you look at the media info of the file, it's looks like something that the browser claims to support.
