Omg...

Do you work for free?

well, i'm brazilian and our financial reality is not the same as yours, for you it can be cheap to pay, but for us no, life package is more than half of our minimum wage, i have bills to pay, like water, electricity, internet and the main food ... If it weren't so expensive, I wouldn't be here wasting my time complaining.

It's sad, but do what you know, I'll have to do some workaround like using chromecast from computer to tv ...

If only they would convert to our currency it would be more fair.

Wouldn't be more fair to them tho. You're asking to pay them less where the USD isn't worth as much were they live (because everything is more expensive).

It's a convenience factor, and probably even a compatibility issue when you start getting into 4k/atmos/DV  . Like you say, you can do it other ways, it's just more of a pain.

I just don't understand why in the web and android version there is no limit, can I use it at will? why only on amazon need to pay !?

Would you prefer if you had to pay on all platforms?

Isn't that a question, but since it is so expensive, why only at amazon? you see!?

Not like you are being billed per client.  So if you have 10 FireTV's one unlock unlocks them all as they would be linked to the same store account.

But all device specific client/apps are Premiere or Unlock required except the Roku as it never had a pay requirement from when it was introduced and has maintained that same stance.

But there will never be a answer that fits this question.  It has been discussed dozens of times before going off the rails and getting locked.

Every user can attempt to build there own FREE app if they like or pay for something that is prebuilt, works and has dev support.

just to be clear, you do not need to pay for a Lifetime Subscription just to use the Fire TV app. Simply pay the $5 USD or whatever one-off payment to unlock this app under your Amazon account.

Hopefully this is easier for you.

So why pay for Emby when Plex is free?  Just asking.

Each has some free facilities and some that are paid for.  One tries to drag you into its world while the other interferes with you less.  Choose the one that does what you actually want, reliably, at a price that suits you.

So if I purchase the app on the Shield, will I also unlock my iPad app?  The monthly payment is not nearly reasonable imho.

I get dragged nowhere, just use the functionalities that are needed.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you will need to pay for both apps.

Once you buy the shield app, you will be able to install in on others shields (if you have them) without paying any more. Same for ipad, (pay once, install on multiple ipads)

On devices with a browser you can still use the web app for free.  Not ideal perhaps, but if you object to paying anything, well...

You "pay" Plex through your data, which they monetize very well.

Hi.  You would need to purchase the unlock in both apps.  They are two different platforms and stores.  Both Google and Apple want their (huge) cut! :)

Emby Premiere, however, will work for both.

Thanks.  I do appreciate all the work you devs put in, don’t get me wrong, and in the past Plex has been a pita.  That’s why I found Emby.

No.  A Premiere subscription unlocks all the apps on all platforms that I know of.  Application-specific app unlock fees only unlock that app on that account.  If you unlock the Android TV app on the shield that would unlock the Android TV app on all platforms that you use the same google account for but would not unlock the Apple TV app as that's a different platform, app store, and account.  You'd have to pay for the apple TV app unlock separately.

Plex is not free.  They give you the bare minimum of usage, and hide lots behind their paywall while getting rich off your personal data.  If you bothered to look at the Emby Matrix, you would see that there are clients that are "free to use", like Roku and web browsers.

Bothered?
Thanks for illuminating the Emby pluses.

I use Roku, and the browser access. The question pertained to home access of my files.  No paywall there.  But there is on the Nvidia Shield with Emby.
