Recording something not in the guide

Just wondering, is there any way to record something that isn't in the TV guide ?

e.g. you hear about a new series you want to record but its not actually going to be broadcast for maybe a month, is there any way to tell it to record, wherever it may me, Resident Alien, or whatever.

No. Of course keyword recordings have been requested many years ago

Oh well, thats another excuse to use NextPVR then, which does.

LoL SageTV has that to build in, But an easy fix is to just add to my windows mail calendar to remind me a few days before it starts then add it to the schedule recording list.

True, but that only works if you know when its going to be shown, as in 3 weeks time or something. I have no idea when it might start or on which channel (thouigh it'll definitely be on of two channels).

E.g. in New Zealand TVNZ has the first few episodes of Resident Alien available On Demand but there's no sign of it in the OTA TV guide, so I can't schedule a recording yet and I doubt I'll remember to check.

So unless you know a way to record on demand TV so I can record it that way...

I'll have a look, but as I've hinted, NextPVR does it already (assuming it does actually remember to work maybe a month in the future), and Emby should do it.
