HappyPessimist 0 Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Hello! On my Emby server, I have two anime libraries - one for subtitled anime, and a second for dubbed anime. Between them, I have a few animes where I have both a subbed version and a dubbed version. I'm noticing that if I watch an episode in one library, it's marking it's equilivant in the other library as watched too. Likewise, if I stop halfway through, it shows both the subbed version and the dubbed version in the continue watching section when I return. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? Or is there a different way I should be sorting/distinguishing the subbed versions from the dubbed versions? thank you!
Carlo 4561 Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 To Emby they are the same thing since they have the same meta-provider ID. There will not be a way to watch one and not watch the other. Emby doesn't track watched that way. Another example would be you had Top Gun movie from a TV recording and watched it. Then did a DVR rip, then a Bluray RIP. Now you also have it in 4K HDR. To Emby they are all just "Top Gun" and if you watch one or partially watch it then you've watched them all or partial. So knowing what the outcome will be in this regard, you may want to make use of Multi-Versioning in Emby and just keep them altogether for easier maintenance. How to do this is covered here: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming
HappyPessimist 0 Posted February 5, 2021 Author Posted February 5, 2021 I'll give the versioning a try, thank you!
pwhodges 2012 Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Versioning works fine - but typically anime is presented with two audio tracks and soft subs all in one file (saves space!). You can set rules in Emby for which is default (choice by language, or the default set in the file), or choose before (or during) playing. Paul 2
