Separate Opening Files

Not entirely sure how to ask this, I searched but wasn't sure how to phrase what I was searching for.

Is it possible to place episode files that have had content around the actual episode (openings/endings/next episode previews) cut out, but have an opening queue up? Like have it:

Season 1/S01OP - Opening.mp4
Season 1/S01E01 - Episode One.mkv

Then have it play before each episode? OR at the very least play prior to the first episode? If not can I request a function like this, even if it's a super basic copycat Trailers implementation?

You can make a Special episode out of it (rename it to S00Exx), put it in "Season 0" folder and in metadata editor set it to play before episode 1.

Edit: Come to think of it, if you ain't too lazy, you can make as many copies as you like, assign different episode numbers and edit metadata for each to play before each episode in main seasons. 

Edit2: Another afterthought: @Luke, maybe Special episode metadata could contain a single tick box "Play before each episode", which would then respect Season it was directed into few fields above or apply to all seasons if none set?

I see where I can set where it's supposed to air, but I don't see where it would be set to play. But yeah the checkbox idea sounds good. Not really a big deal to me just wondering moreso.

That "Airs..." means "Plays", and the accompanying wording is kinda blurred, "Airs before season" is, in fact, actual season you want it played in, "Airs before episode" is exactly that.

I'm not 100% with you on the objective here - but if you already have the files stripped of a 'title and/or recap  sequence' - then yes you can simply insert a 'special' to play at the start of the SEASON and then just play the others in sequence.  You could do per episode yes, but a lot of work and fairly pointless imo as you may as well just use the full recording in the first place ?

To note - the 'Special Airs' wording is corrected in the latest Beta - it how reads as it functions

In the Airs Before Episode. To universally play it on all episodes.

Hi, There is no wild card type functionality so you can do that. 

There is no way to play something before every episode of a season.

The closest you can come to this is INTROS but they play before EVERYTHING or setting a special to play before each season.

 

May I suggest you go here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/98-feature-requests/ and open a feature request for this? Maybe something like this:

Could we have a "Season-Intro".mp4 (or mkv) file that could be placed in the season folder and could be used like an Intro and played before each episode of that season?
