Dilbert 2 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 In Emby I have a library of TV Recordings where the 'date added behavior for new content' is set to 'use file creation date'. I normally have shows listed by episode and sorted by date added (descending). When I move recordings from one drive to another with more space, those recordings are moved to the front of the list like I just recorded them. I have tried using a utility BulkFileChanger to change the Date Created field for some of the shows I moved. For one example, in Windows 10 it shows the date, date created, and date modified fields are all 01/03/2021 for a show, but in Emby it is at the front of the TV Recordings list with a date added of 01/30/2021. How do I move recordings from one drive to another without it seeing it as a newly added file? Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Hi, From Web admin click on your LIBRARY menu. Now click the ADVANCED tab up top Make sure option "Date added behavior for new content:" is set to use the file date not scan date. Let us know if this helps.
Dilbert 2 Posted February 1, 2021 Author Posted February 1, 2021 I checked the setting and it is already set to Use File Creation Date. I have Emby version 4.5.4.0 installed on Windows 10. In the screen shots you can see one example, where I tried using BulkFileChanger to ensure the dates were correct. For the Sunday Morning show episode 2 the Date, Date Created, and Date Modified are all set to January 10 in Windows, but the date added in Emby is January 30 because I moved the file from a different drive to drive E on that date. I also tried copying the file from R: to E: and then deleting the one on R: but the date changed to 1/30. I can manually edit the date added in Emby, but was hoping to find how to avoid having to do that when I move files. Thanks.
Luke 42085 Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 So you tried using BulkFileChanger after they had already been imported?
Dilbert 2 Posted February 2, 2021 Author Posted February 2, 2021 I tried using the BulkFileChanger after they had been imported on the first drive, but before they had been moved. I have all my recordings going to a library folder on R: and I normally watch most shows and then delete them. For the few shows I want to save I move them to the library folder on E: which also gets backed up. I just found that if I move the files from R: to somewhere that is not in a library, I can use BulkFileChanger to change the Accessed Time in Windows, and then move them into the folder on E: and the Date Added in Emby stays correct. It was when I moved files directly from one library folder to another that the date got updated.
