evilscytheman 0 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Hi there, sorry for my broken english, I'm not a native speaker. At the moment I'm on a Windows HTPC with Kodi and a WHS2011 Server. I wanna switch to multiple RaspPis with OSMC or libreELEC or similar. Therefore I wanna try emby as a common database for all these Pis. Because the WHS is quite old I don't want to stress it with the emby server and additionally the WHS is not running 24/7. Atm the HTPC wakes the WHS up and gets it to sleep and some kind of this energy saving is still desired (I'm from germany ... world almost most expensive energy -.-). And I don't know how Kodi will react if the database dies while running, because the Pis will run 24/7. So I thougt getting the emby Server running on another pi would be great. But I have trouble to get my shares implemented as libraries. I found a 3 year old comment that this is not possible and you should mount the shares locally and use these mounts but emby developers are working on that feature, is it live now? I tried to mount the shares to a local path on the Pi, but I struggle with the user permissions (I think... I'm a Amiga and Windows only guy ...). And actually I don't know if this would be working. What is emby doing if the shares are dying while running? Is there a possibility to auto-re-mount after the server will start? Is there some kind of energy saving function in emby which gets the server to sleep while idling some time and waking it up if a client want to access media? Otherwise I would wake it up with a kodi plugin and getting it to sleep depending on the network traffic. Last question, I'm scraping all my media with Ember Media Manager, pictures and nfo in every folder. Do I have to rename something or can I adept emby to use these existing files? Thanks in advance guys! BR Evilscytheman
