ebr 16177 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I think the others are giving good advice. You can run as a service or you can also just be sure the computer is always locked and requires a password to re-activate.

pwhodges 2012 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 You uncheck the setting to require a name and password to log in: https://www.technipages.com/how-to-enable-auto-login-in-windows-10 Note that you only get that choice if you are not on a domain. I use a domain for my home network, so I have to go the traditional route of setting it up through a registry edit: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/user-profiles-and-logon/turn-on-automatic-logon Paul 1

It's funny that you call that 'traditional'!
Spaceboy 2573 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 you also need to disable any windows hello function for the check box to be found. i personally don't like the registry hack as you have to enter your password in plain text to the registry
Carlo 4561 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 What's worse a username with a password that's stored in the registry in plain text OR a username with no password?

Paul
Carlo 4561 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Heavily depends on the context you run the user as!
justinrh 260 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Your friend Microsoft may have given you a solution: Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in options -> [use my sign-in info after restart...] I can reboot then use Emby from another machine.
AxeMan 25 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 FWIW - I did this Windows Task Manager. Works OK for now, as the media share is open on the network. But at some point, a service account will be needed with the appropriate rights. I was going to go with NSSM, but that seems to be no longer maintained.

rbjtech 5284 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) Maybe it hasn't needed any updates ? - according to the Dev Site, the last Beta build was 16/5/2017 nssm 2.24-103-gdee49fc (2017-05-16) So it's 4 years old - but if it works, then why change it ? .. haha Edited March 11, 2021 by rbjtech
