I thought we do have this option in the previous version of Emby. as in 30, 60 and 90 days.

Isn't this the option you are referring to?

So on a new install and libraries you would stop reading nfo with media and only write info to your database.

It could technically be either Happy2Play I guess depending on how the data is being refreshed or updated but if you don't set it to refresh automatically it shouldn't change.

Unless I have totally miss understood, this is about ignoring metadata that is with media and being able to write your own locally (ie metadata with media not overwriting custom local metadata).

Nope, you're correct.  That's what I get for trying to answer a question without going back and reading the context. :(
