gutterpunk13 8 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 My sister has gone away to college and one of the things they said is that their internet is monitored by the FBI. I am sure this is just because they don't want people downloading on the network. However, how secure is the streaming through MediaBrowser? What can they see? I have all the accounts passworded but is that enough? I don't want to get her in any trouble.
speechles 2055 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Is it child porn, or videos on terrorism and such? Assume if it is the FBI they are outside in vans as well, and wifi packet sniffing every device in your area looking for the bad guy, they see everything with satellites nowadays too. Likely your sister is lol@u right now not using her internets. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I expect all MB packets are passed in the clear since it's not really designed for use over the internet specifically and most users don't have sufficient bandwidth to the internet to do significant streaming. Establish a VPN she can connect to and then all your data will be encrypted. She can then be much harder to inspect and much more likely to be actively looked at! Or just tell her to use local media copies and share updates via some file sharing option like dropbox or ftp.
