michael7oliver 0 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Are there any plans to convert the Linux version of the MB3 server to run as an add-on in openELEC? Someone has done this for Plex (which is why I've chosen to start using plexbmc) but my preference would be to use XBMC3C. http://openelec.tv/forum/128-addons/57363-addon-plex-media-server?limitstart=0 I'm assuming my reason for wanting this set up are common to other users: all my media files are served on my primary HTPC (which i run openELEC on due to its speed / low reaources) and shared with other clients (raspberry pi, apple TV 2). Using a straight openELEC build to serve the media to the other clients isn't ideal.
xnappo 1611 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I have no idea what would be involved with that, but agree it would be a nice place to port to. @@Luke - who could look into this? xnappo
xnappo 1611 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I don't know much about what is needed here. A quick Google found this: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=How_to_make_OpenELEC_addon_-_on_MuMuDVB_sample
Luke 42077 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I think it would be fantastic. It would be great if a community member could help pursue this.
im85288 1493 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 There will most likely need to be a easy install tar for Linux first before this could be explored further, currently from what I have seen the Linux server is not there yet.
michael7oliver 0 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Thanks for looking into this guys. I'll keep using Plex for the reasons stated above but I really do hope to switch to media browser at some point in the future.
Luke 42077 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 well maybe you can do something instead of waiting for people to hand it to you. You could for instance, introduce the people in that open elec thread to Media Browser and see if you can find interest from someone willing to take on the project.
