HEVC: Emby on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B

Hi, I was wondering if there was any way for my Pi to 'natively' support HEVC-files. I'll explain what I mean:

I'm running Emby on Raspberry Pi, and it works fine. But when I try to play HEVC-encoded files, it has to transcode because "The container is not supported".
Is there any way so I can play HEVC files without having to transcode it at all? A Pi is not the best at CPU-intensive stuff. It can't keep up when the file is being played.

Thanks.

the only way it will direct play is if the device trying to play the media supports HEVC natively.  unfortunately there are very few that do, thus the transcoding to a supported container.

So the issue isn't with the Raspberry Pi, but with the device I'm playing it on? For example, my browser on my computer. Isn't there any way to fix it?

Hi, he's right, it depends on browser support. Most browsers do not support hevc. For a "fix", you could ask your browser to support hevc. You could also play with an Emby app that can direct play more formats without transcoding. For example, if your computer is running windows, you could check out our Emby Theater desktop app:
