Hi, which email plugin are you referring to?

"Email Notifications"

OK.

What do you mean by ignore the from field?
Most smtp servers will require this field to match your account settings otherwise you can easily spam people.

There is a separate field for the "From" email address to the SMTP username, isn't that what it's for?

It is BUT most ISP/email providers these days will NOT allow this to be different from the account being used to send the mail.

That usually results in Email Spam.

Also some provider will allow you to login with just the account name and not the full email address so the plugin needs flexibility in that regard.
What you can't do normally is have different email addresses in both spots (spam).

Right ok.

That's a shame as the plugin only seems to work with Gmail and the address I want to send from isn't a Gmail address.

Yea, that's a NO, NO in the email world.

But if you want to use a different email address why not use the SMTP server associated with other email account?

Because I've never been able to get the plugin to work with any other SMTP server other then gmail's.

I would try the plugin anyway - as my config errors when testing, but works perfectly well in real life (via SSL/465) - and I don't use gmail.

The server I want to use is smtp.virginmedia.com but I never receive the test email no matter what I do.

I have tried using my Virgin Media account as well in the past, but it never seemed to work.

I ended up setting up a new Gmail account and use that purely for sending emails via various services.

What OS does your Emby server run on, as I know there was an update to the official Emby Email Notifications plugin by @Anthony Musgrove here.
