Rako72 1 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Hello everyone. I have searched the message boards on this particular topic and I have not found anything specific to my particular problem. I have a HD HomeRun connect duo HDHR5 dual tuner that the Emby server simply CAN'T find. When I try to have it detect my device it says "no new devices found. To add a new tuner, close this dialog box and enter the device information manually." When I do that, it says "There was an error saving the TV provider. Please ensure it is accessible and try again." I have done this probably a dozen times now with no results!! It is worth noting that this tuner works PERFECTLY with Plex, so I KNOW that the tuner is connected and functioning PROPERLY. The only REASON I subscribed to Emby premiere was to get the live TV and DVR functionality! I'm going to have to DUMP Emby if I can't get this problem fixed, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! I really like the program otherwise!! server log.txt
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) On the same machine that runs emby - can you browse to the HD HomeRun via a web browser via it's IP address ? if your tuner is 192.168.1.10 - then type in http:\\192.168.1.10 (note, NOT https) It should show something like this ... rbjtech 5284 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) Your log is full of 'access token / socket / permission issues' - so I suspect something on your network is not working as it should - or the emby configuration is incorrect meaning it thinks it's on a different network subnet. Can you also get to emby ok from another local machine on the same network ? (but not emby iself ?) Edited January 22, 2021 by rbjtech 1
Rako72 1 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 I can access I the Emby Server AND the tuner itself perfectly fine on ANY device on my LAN or wifi, even remotely...
Carlo 4561 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Hi, have you tried selecting HDHomeRun tuner and then manually inputting the IP address?
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 If you you look at the log yourself - you will notice that every outgoing request that emby is trying to do results in the same error "An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions". I suspect something is blocking outgoing connections - maybe a firewall on the emby server not allowing any outgoing connections ?
Rako72 1 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 I did happen to see that before I posted it. I wonder if that might be the case. So do I check the firewall on the computer that is running the Emby Server?
Carlo 4561 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Yes that would be the first place to check.
Solution Luke 42083 Posted January 22, 2021 Solution Posted January 22, 2021 Firewall and/or security software.
Rako72 1 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Well I just looked at the Norton Firewall, and under program control, sure enough, Emby was BLOCKED. So I have now unblocked it and it worked like a charm!! Both tuners showed up when I did the first scan after unblocking Emby. Thanks so much for helping me fix an annoying problem!! 1
Carlo 4561 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Great. Thanks for following up. Can you close the thread?

Good you worked it out - the logs are a little overwhelming I agree - but errors are clearly shown by literally just searching for the word 'error' and they usually give you a reasonable clue on what to look for.
