Strudo76 7 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Hi all If I have a 4k video file, usually I can't view that remotely due to my internet upload speed. If I was to create a 1080p with HDR version of the video stream and include that into the mkv, will the server select this stream rather than transcoding into 1080p for streaming? Other posts I've read regarding multiple version of video streams suggest they would need to be separate files which I would need to select between from the media selection screen, but those were regarding wanting different version available rather than having something to automatically select a certain stream rather than transcoding. As a secondary question while you're here, for my Lord of the Rings movies. Usually I just have one folder "Movies" where I put all my media files. Since the Extended LotR movies are part 1/part 2, do these need to go into a folder so they appear as one entry? The media naming page looks to say that is the case, but figured I'd ask in case there is another way. Thanks
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 (edited) This is not supported. The extra versions need to be in separate files. As for two part movies, the best option is to use something like mkvtoolnix to combine them. As long as you name them correctly though Emby will play the two parts back to back. ebr 16185 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 As noted above, you can do exactly what you want but just use separate files instead of embedding multiple video streams. 1
Carlo 4561 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Hi, check out this KB article:https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming Scroll down to the Multi-Version section to see exactly how to set this up. It's important to put all versions of the movie in the same folder. 1
