george12 1 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Hi all, I tried to share an item from my Emby server via text, and was surprised to see something unexpected. 1. The movie description was shared, but not the title (?) 2. The link was generated to the Emby server and not directly to the item. Sounds like shortcomings to me, but wanted to double check with this community maybe missing something Thx @Luke 1
Luke 42078 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Hi there, what Emby app did you share from?

mastrmind11 722 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 (edited) I've never tried before, but just tried and I can confirm the description and no title, and emby landing page are shared via text. While I can understand the reason for the URL (no way to cross check if the recipient is a user on the server), the title should most likely appear. Side note, it would be pretty cool to send a link that, once login occurs, the user is taken to the shared item instead of just logging into the server and having to search for the item manually. Defeats the purpose of sharing an item imo. edit: this is consistent across all mobile devices. browser doesn't even have an option (which I guess makes sense to some degree) Edited January 20, 2021 by mastrmind11

chudak 24 Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 @Luke can you please say if this is something that will be addressed in the future or you believe it works as designed ?
Luke 42078 Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 The title is included in the sharing request, but depending on the sharing target that you select, sometimes the receiving app will not use it. We can workaround this by also including it at the beginning of the description.
chudak 24 Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 @Luke Don't know what is included into the sharing request, but via an iPhone text or email the title is not shown, only description which pretty much useless. Also on the bottom of email/text a LAN IP included like 192.168.0.1/emby, which either need be a real URL to the target of removed all together, in my opinion. Agree?
