Various Backdrops

Hi there,

I'm sure this has been asked before but I've done a search and couldn't find a suitable answer so here goes.

I have my library all set up and everything works fine.I was just wondering if it's possible to have different backdrops when playing compilations that have multiple artists.I have a lot of VA cd's and I'd love to have a backdrop of the artist that is playing at the time, and then change for the next artist and so on.I've sorted album art/Fanart for all my regular cd's,but have no idea how to get it working with various collections.Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Vinny

For each song on a compilation you can change the metadata for AlbumArtist to the track artist and then you will get a backdrop for each artist. FWIW

Thanks for the reply Maisy.I understand your reply but I'm not too sure how to do it.I presume using something like the Metadata manager ?

Yes, although ideally the embedded metadata within the track.

So I'd have to use Mp3Tag or Tagscanner or something like that ?

Picard is our suggested option, but those will work too, yes.

Aah I have that installed on my laptop.I'll have a look and see if I can figure it out.

Thanks Luke.

If you don't want to touch the properties of each track on your actual computer, you can use the Emby Metadata to make this change.

I have a Roadrunner Summer Sampler mess of an album...

It's a Various compilation of course:

I've attached screenshots to show how just changing the AlbumArtist from "Various" in Emby Metadata to actual "Track Artist" works out.

You can have tracks in a compilation of Various that are the same as other tracks if Official Artist releases, but it has no bearing on how the tracks in the Various album work. You have to treat each track as if it was a single, sort of, and not wanting to actually change my files, Emby Metadata works fine for this, and one day if I want to put the effort into it, I'll change my files properties.

Very nice Maisy.I tried a few things last night but it didn't work.I was trying to avoid altering the tags, but it looks like you've found a way to do it.It'll be a lot of work cause I've got a big collection.Great cd btw ;)
