" Thanks Luke, Here's the screen, tho I don't think it will tell you much I haven't already said and I have attached the server log and the transcoding log also embyserver log.txt ffmpeg-transcode-6ee45601-87ad-47c1-b45c-66f89c0f34c2_1.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Hi, the ffmpeg log shows this: 03:32:12.109 I:\MEDIA\Films\1917 (2019) [1080p] [BluRay] [5.1] [YTS.MX]\1917.2019.1080p.BluRay.x264.AAC5.1.mp4: Permission denied Time to check permissions.
Luke 42083 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 In other words emby server is being denied access to read the contents of the file, so you may want to check what's going on with your I: drive.
Michael1952 1 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 Thanks cayars and Luke, well I went to the L:\ drive and set the permissions on the folder: MEDIA. They were set to read only, I changed that everyone. It set the attributes and i figured i was good to go... but not so quick. It changed back. I don't know what I did wrong and i have poked around in the area to see if the were any other settings that might pertain to permissions but could find none. Once again I am at a loss. Again thanks and any help here would be great.
GrimReaper 4749 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) Your log shows drive I:\, however your screenshots show L:\ drive - did your drive letters got changed? Or you're inadvertently setting a different drive permissions? Edited January 19, 2021 by GrimReaper76
Michael1952 1 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 I'm not sure why the log said I:\ . I checked the drive letter again I is L:\. Any thing i can do now? Checked the logs and I am not sure what to send you now. Just Checked to see if a movie would play now . It Didn't Then just by chance I checked to see if a trailer would play. It did.?? why is that?

Is that a local trailer that you have in your media folder or internet one? Could you check in your Library settings what is the path for your media?
Michael1952 1 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 I checked the drive letter again I is L:\. Sorry it should read "it is L:\"..not "I is L:\"

Sorry it should read "it is L:\"..not "I is L:\" So that is basically your problem. Your drive is L but the system is looking for I (capital "eye"). System.IO.IOException: System.IO.IOException: The device is not ready. : 'I:\MEDIA\Films\1917 (2019) [1080p] [BluRay] [5.1] [YTS.MX]\1917.2019.1080p.BluRay.x264.AAC5.1.mp4' So it isn't actually permissions. It is a bad reference. Check your library setup. Are these physical drives or mapped network drives?
Solution Michael1952 1 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Solution Posted January 19, 2021 Ah Ha !! Changed those to say : The movie plays fine now thanks GrimReaper76 Good Catch. Should have done that myself.

Should have done that myself. Okay, the next problem is going to be that you cannot define The folders the way you have there. In fact, there is no reason to do what you've done there. You cannot have sub-folders of the same folder defined in the same library. But, how you have that setup is completely redundant anyway as the reference to just "L" encompasses everything in the other two. My guess is you want that to ONLY have the first folder defined ("films").
Michael1952 1 Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 Yes eber, you are rite i only needed the L:\MEDIA\file folder defined the others were redundant. Thanks for that.
