Actors sort order

It's the first one listed on my server so from my similar experience it causes the problem of the actors being out of order based on relevance.  I don't know if the box is checked by default but mine wasn't then a few months ago I don't remember why but I checked it when I made a new library and then I noticed that the actors were completely out of whack....with the main actors actually being last or near last.   I couldn't understand why, then I remembered I checked the box for TVDb so I unchecked it and Voila! everything went back to the correct order again.  So in my opinion a database for TV shows shouldn't even be an option for movies, especially when it's data is questionable for TV shows.

A lot of these posts are old so I'm only speaking about recent version since the drag and drop to sort the cast the way you want... The Director is listed first no matter, and I don't like it first, and a way to allow the director any position is to edit the director in the web editor (people) to be an actor, and you make the role DIRECTOR. Save and go edit the director to Guest Star. Save scan and it will still show as director but you can drag to any position.

Hi, can’t you just move the director to a lower position?

If there's a way I can't seem to figure it out. The only way I found was what I just mentioned.

Did you try using the drag handles to reorder the list?

if you mean the = thing then yes. In fact it appears to work until you scan and then on display it's back on top.

That would suggest Emby is not writing nfo file and once file is reread your order reverts.

I even tested that by editing the nfo and moved director to the bottom but it still displays first or the top in the editor

Can you provide a nfo.

Is Emby writing your nfo files?  As this was discussed in a TMM topic as their order of writing causes director first issue.

I could but before I forget I just tried adding a director where it already had none listed - and it was a different show and no problem.. Very strange.....

 

Ok here is 2 NFO's - one has director edited as guest and the other is the original and I added ORG and the end of the file name.

You will have issues here as the already imported info in DB cannot be updated to any other order.

Pretty sure it will primarily be lockdata.

it's locked but it let's you sort the people order and I already said everyone but the directors could be re-arranged. and her's a better original NFO

What server version are you on as I just remembered this Director first is a change in 4.9.  As refreshing all old media changes the previous order.

..and I was thinking similar about difference in nfo... also think might have had same file in 2 places and testing that now.

I just added 4.9 and now tags seem to be automatically in alphabetical order no matter how I drag and drop.

There shouldn't be any drag and drop anymore. What Emby app are you seeing that in?

I just upped to 4.9.1 server and I see it on the web and current roku app. I haven't touched emby for close to a month and shocked. Actually I meant I used the right click and move up and down which appears to work but when you scan it's in alphabetical order. If there's no way to put it in order I then I do have a solution I'm working on, but manual sort if far easier.
