Music100 33 Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 I have a large music library of FLAC files with standard metadata such as album, artist, genre, year, etc. I see these basic fields map correctly to the same fields in Emby. What I don't know is how to map or view other types of metadata fields that are not as common, such as FLAC "comments" or "release date", etc. Right now my metadata for other type of fields do not show up in Emby. My questions which I would greatly appreciate advice on are: 1) How do I get my FLAC library metadata that isn't showing up to "map" or show up in the Emby fields? Is there a way to map fields from the FLAC files to Emby fields, or are there specific metadata fields that Emby can read? (I could batch convert my FLAC files fields as an option to match up with Emby.) 2) Is there a way to determine which fields in Emby can be searched? I'd like to be search all the fields if needed when looking for a file. Cheers.
pwhodges 2014 Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 There's no way to do the things you ask, that I'm aware of. Note that the next release of Emby will have a largely rewritten support of music libraries. This is present in the current beta, but is still being worked on. As it stands, I'm not sure it yet meets your requirements, but I think there's more to come. If you want to look at the changes by trying the beta, I would recommend that you made it a separate installation - at present some of the changes are not working right, and would quite possibly interfere with your established usage. If you do try it, I'm sure your comments in the beta forum would be welcomed. Paul 1
Music100 33 Posted January 17, 2021 Author Posted January 17, 2021 Okay, thank you for that definitive answer - it helps considerably. I will try the beta in the safe manner you suggest. Thank you for the help.
pwhodges 2014 Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Note that the new music treatment requires that you rescan the music library - but of course, if you set up a separate server that will happen anyway. Pau
Music100 33 Posted January 18, 2021 Author Posted January 18, 2021 Alright, that makes sense. Thank you.
