Moving Media Location

I've just created a back-up Emby server using the config data from the primary. This server will get its media from a back-up NAS once I've changed all the library paths. The backup NAS mirrors the primary.

Is there an easy way to just change the server name for each library path rather than going in to every library, adding the new path and deleting the old one?

Thanks.

Hi,if it's a true mirror of the primary server you can copy over the config and database and it should just work. As soon as you get into "everything same BUT" then it's not the same as you would need to manually change library.xml files, collections, playlists and of course database entries.

Best and easiest thing to do for a 2nd/backup system is remove each mount point and replace it with the new mount point.  Let it rebuild the library based on the discs and layout you use on the backup system.

One thing that almost always happens is that the backup machine isn't exactly the same so don't push it to be.  Keep it simple so it's it's own server available as a backup if needed.  Just setup the disc and folders so you can easily copy them over and let the backup scan and add them properly just as if it were a standalone system library wise.

The media folders on the backup have the same path, apart from the server name, and the files within the backup are exactly the same as the primary.

I thought there might be a way I could edit (a) config file(s)  to replace the server name but in light of what you've said I replaced the old folders with the new ones and it's currently rescanning. I'm sure you're right that it's the safest option.

Thanks for your response.
