If I wanted to create grouped players with various combination of different zones, how would I do that? Thanks, Or should I start a different thread? Thanks, Hi, I don't really know. Do your dlna devices have that feature? There isn't anything built into Emby to do that. We do support that with Sonos, but you have to use the dedicated Sonos plugin rather than plain dlna.
kjsanders86 1 Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Arylic now has a vast set of streamers (renderers, etc) usually on sale for about $75 for a 50w+50w stereo zone (DIY version). Their app does an outstanding job of controlling their devices but the media side is lack-luster. That is why I need Emby! They also have support for a full HTTP API for control. I use Home Assistant/Media Assistant for limited(buggy) control but again the UI is years behind Emby. see: Arylic Home: https://www.arylic.com/ HTTP API Commands for Arylic Streamers (Renderers): https://developer.arylic.com/httpapi/#http-api Multi-Room Control HTTP Commands: https://developer.arylic.com/httpapi/#add-guest-device-to-multiroom-group-router-mode 4STREAM APP: Select Source, Select Zone (and multi-zone), Select Input, Adjust Volume... What does it take to get an Arylic Plug-in? Seems like there may be a lot of interest . I'm retired tech so certainly could help Q.C. but not a programmer. thx,
Luke 42077 Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Quote What does it take to get an Arylic Plug-in? To do what though? It is best to stick with dlna to the extent possible. The Sonos plugin has pros and cons. You can play Sonos with the dlna plugin but there is no support for groups. Or you can use the Sonos plugin to get that. The problem is that as the dlna plugin gets updated, it is a significant effort to constantly port the same updates into the Sonos plugin, so it ends up falling behind in other respects. From this standpoint, it would be best to not have an arylic plugin unless there was no other choice. Hopefully there are more functions that can be performed over regular dlna.
