Thomas64 40 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 (edited) Rather than hijack the "non-admin-user can visit admin dashboard" thread - thought it better to open a new topic.. Since both the Settings and Manage Server Icons pretty much provide the same functionality now - whether the user is actually allowed to manage the server or not, would it be aesthetically and functionally better to have just one Icon? Maybe a single Configuration icon as Cayars mentions (in that non-admin user thread)? And any user or server configuration access the user has shows up under that one icon? The user I am logged in as to get this screen snip is NOT allowed to manage the server - but still gets the Icon.. In this instance, the "Manage Emby Server" icon ends up giving the same exact options as the normal Settings Icon beside it - which makes one of them redundant. For a User who IS allowed to manage the server - both the normal Settings Icon and "Manage Emby Server" Icon give the exact same options (to change user settings AND manage the server). The Emby Server Icon just takes you directly to the Dashboard first. Thanks! I personally liked it better when they were distinctly seperate functions - server settings were segregated to the server icon, and you saw that Icon only if you were allowed access.. But I know you can't please everyone, right? Edited January 9, 2021 by Thomas64 removed extra image
Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Makes since from a user perspective they go to the exact same place. Don't know exactly what version it started displaying for users also.
Thomas64 40 Posted January 9, 2021 Author Posted January 9, 2021 (edited) I think it was 4.5.1 that I first noticed it, which looks like I had upgraded to on 10/04. I was going to post something about it - because I am a fanatic about the Home screen being cluttered with non-media items. But knowing I can be a little TOO fanatical about it - decided to build a bridge and get over it - ya'll have bigger fish to fry! (I am on 4.5.4 now..) Edited January 9, 2021 by Thomas64
Luke 42083 Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 The problem with distinct before was that so many people never knew the user settings even existed because they never clicked on the icon. Merging all settings into one menu has pretty much solved that. 1
