Movies getting pulled out of collections

I noticed tonight that a number of my collections had a single movie that had been removed from the collection, and was back in the normal movie list.  It wasn't all collections, but maybe 20 of my collections did it, and they all had just one movie that had been removed and needed to be manually added back in.  Also, it only happened in my shared, remote movie library and not on the 4k version library.  Do you know what might cause this?

might have also seen this with one of my collections. I say might because I do not know if it was human error for me or not. I stored all of my studio ghibli movies into a collection and then randomly the other day noticed one of them was not in that collection. I am pretty sure they were all together but I cannot say for sure.

I know for a fact that all of these collections were previously correct.  This was in my shared movie folder that other users have access to.  Is it possible for a remote user to remove a movie from a collection if they don't have rights to manage the server?

Hi, Are these manually created collections or created by the AutoBox Plugin?

Currently yes any users can create and delete or remove a item from a collection.  This will change in 4.6+.

Could your movies path of changed from when the movie was added to the collection?

Have you verified the movie path is correct in the collection.xml?

I don't believe any of the paths have changed.  If other users can edit collections, that is a possibility.  How do I check collection.xml?

Hi take a look at this KB article to see where the collection.xml will be located (not so much for migration purposes).

If you know one of the movies missing you could search your log files for it and maybe find the reason it was removed.

Paths will vary depending on your platform.

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\data\collections\each collection folder

Edit metadata on the the collection will show you the path also or view collection via Metadata manager.

I went through and manually added them back in.  Will the log still be useful even after they have been corrected?

I looked back through the logs and didn't see any reference to any of them.  I'm not sure exactly when it happened, and my logs only go back a few days it seems.

Keep an eye on your collections. You might be able to do this looking at the collection files/folder modified date.  If you see one with an updated date/time then take a look at that collection in Emby.  Then if you notice something missing search your logs for the movie/episode name.

This way you catch it quickly or within a day or so when it would be in the logs.

It seems like since my server is on a Synology NAS that it is more difficult to access those folders than on a Windows machine.

I forget the name of the app (I don't have Synology) but isn't there a File Manager type app build into the web UI for Synology you can use?

May need to post a server log to verify there are no permissions issues present as this was a major issue in the updated versions.

But you will  need a program like WinSCP for explorer access.

I'm not familiar with one that gives me root volume access without using something like WinSCP which isn't exactly something I can just check at a glance.
