How to organize multiple versions of same movie (incl 3d) ?

I saw the guidelines here (https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser/wiki/Library-Structure), they recommend storeing multiple resolutions in same folder.

But if I have 3d version of the same movie, which of these is preferred?

1. /movies

       / some_movie (2000).mkv

       / some_movie (200) [hsbs].mkv

2. /movies

       / some_movie (2000).mkv

    /3dmovies

       / some_movie (200) [hsbs].mkv

Or are they both equivalent? In #2, I'm guessing metadata will be fetched twice, but will it be combined because movies are same id?

Number 1.

That's how I do mine, but more visual identification of a 3D movie needs to be made in MB3, especially on clients.

For the moment I'm trying to go through and edit the name to include '3d' in brackets (which is related to another issue about where to record the version)  though that isn't all that visual either.  MyMovies has a nice small overlay option for 3D Blu-ray so you can see it quickly. In the metadata it is simply a 'is 3d' checkbox.
