How do I use VLC external player in Emby

Recommended Posts

I have just started using Emby which works fine most of the time but sometimes it does not play sound but if I play it through VLC without using Emby the sound works.

I read somewhere on how to set up VLC as an external player through Emby. It stated to click on Account icon, then settings, then external player but this last option does not exist. Is there another method?

The Emby Theater version is 1.0.24

For Luke: There are no logs present for this problem and no browser is used as it is on my LG smart TV so the information I gave is all I can provide

For Sooty: the link you gave me was for Emby for Windows. I need to use the theater that is used for TV which is the version I already have

Can you please attach the log files anyway? Thanks.

I cannot attach the log files as they are online only and there are 12 of them. Copy and pasting would be a joke as the logs are so big.

I've decided that the only option I have is to not use Emby for the files that don't play correctly. Just means that I have to get off my sofa and play with computer for each of these files I need to play

What do you mean online only?

The Emby server can only be accessed via the start menu on computer. There are no Emby files on my computer

You don't need to access log files directly. You can get them using the emby web interface. Instructions are in the link I provided earlier.
