Mark multiple movies as "watched"

To mark an item as "watched" I have to hover the mouse over the poster, then wait for that see-through info screen to appear and then press the "played" button. This takes a lot of time when there's hundreds of items....

 

Is there a faster way to do this?

 

I know there's a select multiple items function, but after that all options available is to group the selected ones together or add them in a collection, but no "set as played" function.

If you add them to a collection, then you mark the collection as watched.. I haven't tried this but I don't see why it wouldn't work since you can do it for real collections.
