Bugs78 0 Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) Hi all, I recently got Emby installed and running along with my Roku 3 box. I have some television shows which we watched over Christmas and apart from a couple of occasions where it quit back to the home screen it ran fine. Fast forward to yesterday I thought i`d test with a full length movie to be sure they play ok, I played two different movies and both seemed to freeze at around 15 minutes in (last time was 19 minutes) I checked the logs and whilst I dont really know what im looking for, I see when it starts playing but not specifically transcoding, interestingly I do see errors about port mapping to an external IP, for me i`d never want to play anything or even access Emby externally for I never bothered even looking at this, I guess this wouldnt affect playback and the issues im seeing? I have included my log file can anyone see why its freezing? PS I`m using Ubuntu 18 with Emby 4.5.4.0 and playback in Chrome 87.0.4280.88 (Latest) I havnt tried other browsers at the moment but will do Thanks embyserver.txt Edited December 30, 2020 by Bugs78
Q-Droid 989 Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 You can disable automatic port mapping in the Emby server Network settings. This will clean up the UPnP errors in your log. Attach the ffmpeg logs for the playback sessions that froze. Browser playback often needs transcoding/remux so one thing to look for is available disk space on the transcoding temp path.
Bugs78 0 Posted December 30, 2020 Author Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) Hi @Q-Droid Thanks I found it and disabled, also think I have sorted the playback this time I noticed there was an audio setting English AAC 5.1 (Default) and English AAC stereo (Default) it was set to 5.1 so, changed it to Stereo and so far playback is fine I`m 1.5 hours through a Movie and it hasnt frozen. I have attached the ffmp log anyway also is there a way of setting the default for the audio, just thinking so I dont have to check it. Thanks PS On testing my first Movie played fine, Emby said it was direct playing, tried another which has gotten to 6 minutes in and frozen again it is direct playing but I dont see anything written to the logs apart from the main Emby log ffmpeg-directstream-8ae8b814-dfcd-41c8-9016-a50c95b7dd18_1.txt Edited December 30, 2020 by Bugs78

Are you still seeing freezing?
Q-Droid 989 Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Your ffmpeg log is from a direct stream (remux) and looks like it played to the end of the movie. Is it still happening and does it freeze with any media or specific files? If isolated to specific files then logs from the server and those ffmpeg sessions (if any) might help.
Bugs78 0 Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 Hi, After a bit of testing it turned out to be the Movie file, I downloaded it and tried to play it on my laptop but it froze on my laptop. I confirmed by downloading another movies from my emby server which played fine. sorry for wasting your time. Thanks
