Some questions(emby staff), Improvements, errors

Hello:)
First of all, a compliment. i would like to switch from jellyfin to emby, but i have the concerns/questions below before i buy a life pass. i think it's great that here the team is so active and answers the users questions in the best possible way. can't say that about jellyfin at all.

Improvements (Related to the area images)
- Store metadata differently so that when I change the folder structure or filepath, the metadata like tags remain and are not all removed. (is also very useful if I want to import a backup and in the meantime the structure has changed)
- If you have added tags, not only filter by one tag rather by several.
- Image -> Edit metadata; All fields are adapted to the theme gray except the select fields. that I personally do not find good. should be consistently also in gray. Also in "add people".

Error (Refers to the edit images with metadata section).
- Add people does not work. You can add the person via the plus, but is not taken over after confirming. (had the problem also with jellyfin...)
- Same problem with add studio. If not wanted, why editable at all? (Same with jellyfin)

Questions rather asked to the staff.
- The software is now unfortunately closed source. Will you reveal why this decision was made? Find the software great, but it is a thick minus point.
- Do you have a roadmap for the next updates/year?
- Could not find anything on the collected data. What data do you collect and send to emby to "improve the user experience"?
- Would really like to book the life license. if the question sounds stupid sorry. i wish you the best of course, but what happens to the license if the company fails? will the license servers be shut down and i'm screwed? is there a plan from you?

Would be really happy if the questions are answered. if you read here: have a nice week and a happy new year!:3

Are you sure you clicked save after doing this? Same question about studios. This something that comes up every now and then. Make sure after you add it, that you also click save on the main edit screen.

Have you considered enabling saving of nfo files? This will save the metadata in your media directories next to your video files, thus making it more portable.

Yes multi-select filters are coming in future updates.

The procedure I perform:
- Click on plus at people
-- Enter name
-- Select type
-- Confirm
(There is the first difference to "Genre" and "Tags". Now the entered person is not displayed).
- Mainframe Save
- Open Edit Metadata again and it still doesn't show up

About the metadata manager it is also not displayed. Tested with Firefox and Chrome

Hi.  Of course, we don't plan on this ever happening :) but, if it did, and it is something we can control, we'd like to try and leave you with a functioning system if at all possible.

That's good to hear. Just one more question. Are you collecting some metadata or something like that?

No.  We do not collect any data about your media or what you watch etc.

Out of curiosity: Does Emby publish any (annual) reports?

Not at this time.  We are a private company.

Ok, thanks for the info. That seems to be working OK from here in my testing, but we'll try to reproduce.

Unfortunately it has to be for now because on some platforms it ends up not rendering correctly, for example, you end up with a white dropdown containing white text that you can't read. We'll periodically reevaluate, but for now, the safest solution is to just not attempt it in firefox.

Error was the wrong word. Have there still the issue and do not know how I get that fixed. Have also received no error message. Emby runs on windows for testing. When creating a folder, nfo is activated but no file is created. Folder exist with normal windows permissions.

When you need more/specific information from my system to reproduce the issue, let me know.

I will install emby on a ubuntu VM today to know if the issue is also there.

Are you talking about a Homevideos & Photos library where you are editing the metadata of private photos?

Yes:)

And you also add people to the metadata of photos, right? That and nfo for photos isn't implemented or broken it seems.

Is it not working for you either?
Am webdev and if something is not implemented, it should not be in the ui.

There has never been nfo support for photo files. Usually the metadata comes from within the photos themselves.

i had reached my daily limit... i am not familiar with the matter. So you can customize the metadata of the photo so that you can sort it through the UI? Or asked another way.  (How) Can I customize the metadata of the photo so that I can sort it via Emby? I mean now for example by people or keywords. not by date.Don't have to explain it but if possible, maybe a keyword I have to google for:)

and small feedback: if it is not usable, it should be removed.

Search for IPTC metadata. But Emby is only reading "Keywords" from those metadata and stores it at "Tags".

HI, what do you think should be removed?

If when selecting "Homevideos & Photos library" nfo is still usable for videos, it is ok. if there also not(as with photos) it should be removed. what would be cool, if I change the tags in the UI of emby, these are also changed in the metadata of the photo. but is now only a small thing. thanks for helping:) test now premium for a month and hope that everything runs smoothly with movies:)

Yes a home videos library can be used for either videos, photos, or a mix of both.

You'll be able to multi-select filter in the upcoming Emby Server 4.6 release. Thanks.
