RaisonDetre72 5 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 I was able to watch shows on it last night with no issues. However, as of this morning, Emby has stopped playing back files on any device / user, indicating a server-side issue. Myself and users have no issue accessing the server / browsing, and all metadata / images shows properly, but when going to play something, it just spins and spins on loading. Nothing has been updated or changed on the server since last night. Tried rebooting but problem persists. Latest server log attached. Please let me know what else I can provide in troubleshooting. embyserver.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Hi, what movie or show did you try to play that will be in the log?
RaisonDetre72 5 Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 You can use 'Samurai Jack' and 'Web Therapy' as two references.
Luke 42085 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 This is quite strange. What is the media stored on?
Carlo 4561 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Neither of those show up in the log but I see some weirdness. Do you have time to do a quick TeamViewer session right now? If so I'd like to take a look. If so, download TeamViewer from www.teamviewer.com & install it. Then send me a PM with the login id and password you get on launch. I'll login and open a chat so you know I'm connected.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Ahh, Luke posted as well. Wonder if we are looking at the same "strangeness"
RaisonDetre72 5 Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 I'll hop on TV now and PM you. Thanks! 1
Solution Carlo 4561 Posted December 29, 2020 Solution Posted December 29, 2020 Just an update. VPN was running on the server which is running in a VM machine. We disconnected VPN and still have an issue. But if we playback locally using local IP it works fine and is pretty fast. Loopback through WAN port (or VPN) and it's slow loading pages and no video plays. He's rebooting the modem and router and we'll see if that does anything. 1
RaisonDetre72 5 Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 As a fellow tech person, I'm deeply embarrassed to report that I failed to follow basic troubleshooting protocol. This seems to have been fully resolved with a modem + router reboot. I'll take my demerits now. Thank you very much, @cayars for the awesome assistance!
Carlo 4561 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 OK great, glad it's working now. Have you tried it again with the VPN running again? The dead give away to me when looking at it was that it was ok using the local IP but as soon as we used the WAN IP/loopback it slowed to a crawl.
RaisonDetre72 5 Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 Yes. After rebooting router/modem, I confirmed it was working without VPN (but using the WAN IP, as opposed to just the LAN IP). Then I rebooted the VM, let everything start back up, including VPN, and it works perfectly now.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Awesome, told you I'd figure it out. "YET"
RaisonDetre72 5 Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 Indeed. Thank you again. Next time I need to remember Rule #1: Before doing anything else, REBOOT! 1
