Hi,

Today my Emby server is not starting anymore. Two days ago it was still working fine and I didn't start it yesterday...

The error seems to suggest some socket access error but I haven't made any changes to my system in between and there has been no Windows update installed either.

I have tried restarting my system a couple of times and also reinstalled Emby, but still no luck...

Any idea what else to check?

Hi, as a test, can you try running emby server as administrator?

I have just tried, but the problem persists. My user is an administrator, but I have also used the "run as administrator" option explicitly...

I have also tried clearing the programdata folder to start with a fresh configuration, in case I screwed up something in the settings... however this is a very early initialization problem, a new programdata folder gets created but the server still shuts down:

This is very strange indeed as I can't think of anything that could have caused this...

Hi,

This morning it started normally, with old config and library in place... once again no change on my computer since yesterday, and I already tried rebooting then with no luck...

So this looks like a random problem, but it would be interesting to know what is triggering it as it may come back again...

Are you sure you were using the correct user? 

C:/Users/sas/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll

That would indicate you installed Emby using the user "sas" and this is the user that needs to run Emby.

If you tried running it with a different username it won't work.

I always run Emby with the same user, I don't connect to my PC with any other user. For now it's still working fine.

What security software do you have on the machine? Something appears to be blocking the server from starting up.

I am using Symantec Endpoint Protection and I have thought about that... stopping SEP didn't solve the problem at the time... and now SEP is up and running and Emby is running just fine today...

@MarkE2794It looks like you went back and forth between beta and stable? That's not supported. I would suggest going back to the beta and then reporting whatever issue you had with it in the testing area of the community. To go back to 4.7 you'll need to do a fresh install.

i reverted back to beta and it fixed it
