jsc1205 51 Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I have 2 separate TV shows that are showing up as separate shows within Emby. Not exactly sure what is going on because a couple of my shows files are that way, but just these 2 are doing this. I have checked the ID's in the metadata info and they are exactly the same so Emby SHOULD be seeing these 2 folders as the exact same show and showing it that way....but its not. I have tried re-identifying the both and they are still separated. Any idea why? Latest server update is installed.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Not sure I follow exactly but do you have "Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders" enabled on the library?

jsc1205 51 Posted December 24, 2020 Author Posted December 24, 2020 Sure. One of the shows is Looney Tunes. Due to drive space the seasons are on 2 separate volumes/drives on my NAS. Drive one example: TV Shows/Looney Tunes/Season 1950 Drive two example: TV Shows2/Looney Tunes/Season 1960 Emby is showing this as 2 separate shows and not combining them as it should. Metadata in Emby shows TVDB ID as 72514 for both. So not entirely sure what I'm missing here. Emby is doing the same thing with Star Wars the Clone Wars.
jsc1205 51 Posted December 24, 2020 Author Posted December 24, 2020 (edited) Just noticed when drilling into an episode that none of the info is there, like it hasnt even been scraped. So maybe that is part of the problem I refreshed the metadata and selected "search for missing metadata" and now its showing as one show with all the episode info. That was really weird Edited December 24, 2020 by jsc1205 1
Dema323 0 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 I have the exact same issue and also have "Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders" enabled as it was enabled by default. Both folders have same id's im running emby on unraid and have multiple shares that emby sees as different drives. Example: /Series FR-EN/Looney Tunes/Season 1 /Series EN/Looney Tunes/Season 2 Emby makes 1 folder for /Series FR-EN/Looney Tunes/and 1 for /Series EN/Looney Tunes/ instead of combining them. Im coming from plex and it had no issues with this setup, so i don't see why this doesn't work.
Dema323 0 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 okay so further findings Having only library Series EN with folder /Series FR-EN/ and folder /Series EN/ works like it should. But when i add library Series FR with folder /Series FR-EN/ and folder /Series FR/ all the TV shows that have seasons in Series FR-EN unmerge and i end up with 2 folders for 1 tv show

Do they have the same metadata download language?

Dema323 0 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 I gave the libraries the same metadata download language, but the audio language is different

AFAIK, one item can reside in multiple libraries if hierarchical setup is correct, i.e. same-level folders, no nested ones.
Luke 42078 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Does this answer your question? Are you still having an issue with this?
Dema323 0 Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 What i want:https://imgur.com/a/umeZVgr What im getting:https://imgur.com/a/d62hDa2 I dont see why this doesn't work. On my plex server i never had issues with this.
Dema323 0 Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 When Only having LIBRARY EN that includes folders: SERIES EN, SERIES EN-FR. it works how its supposed to -> 1 poster that includes all seasons (EN and EN-FR) When adding(creating) LIBRARY FR that includes folders:SERIES FR, SERIES EN-FR. -> The TV shows that have seasons in folder FR and folder EN-FR unmerge. Then i end up with 1 poster for all FR seasons and 1 poster for all EN-FR seasons.(and the same goes for LIBRARY EN -> 1 poster for EN and 1 poster for EN-FR)

What happens to those items?
Luke 42078 Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 I would use the metadata editor to see if either series is configured to override the metadata download language. Most likely the answer is yes. The values need to be the same in order for them to be merged. Ensure they are the same and then run a library scan.

Best guess: as you assigned ONLY those particular seasons to be part of TWO libraries, system is treating them as separate entities and displays as such. Again, pure speculation from my side. Manual 'Merge' on multi-select is sorely missed here. Edited February 17, 2021 by GrimReaper76 Append
