gbanks2 2 Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Hi Everyone I'm hoping someone can help me. Emby has been running fine for years but this evening the server will not load and I cannot connect from any app or via the webui. Attached is a log file that references an I/O error but i have checked the system folders in 'Emby-Server' and I can create new text files and edit / save them etc without any issue. The folders all have inherited permissions and allow System, Administrators & users to have full read/write access. I have ran diagnostics on my drive which isn't reporting any errors. The drive also has 50gb free so i know it isn't a space issue. I have downloaded and installed emby server which installs fine but when trying to start up, i keep getting the same error. Log file attached. Any help would be gratefully received. embyserver-63744279202.txt
gbanks2 2 Posted December 23, 2020 Author Posted December 23, 2020 Just an update. It turned out that i had a corrupted file. Library.db-wal in the programdata/data folder. I deleted this file and then emby started up as normal and is running fine. On a side note @Luke Before trying this, I did a fresh install and then used the backup plugin to restore a previous backup. It replicated every folder in my library 3 times. It would also be good if there was an option for backing up cache, fanart etc and it picked up the original date added to the library instead of scanning for new media. Maybe it is just me but I would expect a restore of a backup to deliver my setup back to the exact state it was in at the point of the backup being made. just my 2 cents 1

Just as a follow up to this. I run emby in a VM and although the VM reported no issues with the virtual drive, the physical drive was reporting faults back to Esxi. Luckily I checked before it died completely. Once I had installed a new drive, I decided to do a fresh install and start from scratch as the VM was around 6 years old. I took a new backup using the plugin and it did the same as before, all of my library folders were imported 3 times. I let Emby finish doing a library scan, hoping that it would recognise the duplication and merge into a single library source but it didn't. Then when I attempted to delete a single duplicate entry, it removed all 3 entries and left me with nothing. Overall it was just a case of re-adding my library folders and then everything worked as before and my watched statuses etc remained intact, it was just a pain in the a$$.
