Methodman104 10 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Until recently Emby was working fine on my phone and I was able to use it all the time away from home. But now it is not working if i'm not on my wireless internet network. Canyouseeme.org does not see the remote WAN address anymore either. The phone only connects to my server if the wireless internet is on, but that defeats the purpose of my me using it on my phone. This is very frustrating and seems to be a common occurance with Emby from my Google search. I have a Spectrum Internet router technicolor model TC8717T. Here is my Firewall settings on Avast....I allowed both ports 809 and 8920. Still not working though, can't connect remotely. Is there something I am, doing wrong? Perhaps someone more tech savvy can answer this, as I have never had this happen before.
Luke 42086 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Hi, the reason it's a common occurrence is because it's something users have to setup in their own network environment. Once you add that requirement to the mix the chances of something going wrong will of course be higher than just signing into something like netflix. I would suggest checking out our connection troubleshooter: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001849007-connectivity Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !
Methodman104 10 Posted December 22, 2020 Author Posted December 22, 2020 I don't know how to sign into my internet providers router...they set it up. I don't know the username for it. I will contact my internet provider then....other than that I did everything else in the list and what other users tried when posting about the same issue. Again, Emby worked fine with connecting remotely with no issues until recently. So hopefully this can be resolved quickly.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Hi, You likely were using UPnP previously which allowed Emby itself to setup the ports but maybe a router update turned this off? Once you get the passcode to your router (check labels on the router also) we can remotely assist you if you like. But we need to be able to view your router setup to help, so let us know once you get get into it. Carlo
Luke 42086 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 You may also want to try different public facing router ports.
Methodman104 10 Posted December 23, 2020 Author Posted December 23, 2020 I was on the phone with my internet provider, they opened the ports....here is a screenshot. But I am still not able to access my Emby server remotely when testing it on my phone??? From the photo, did the technician add the ports right?
Carlo 4561 Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Maybe, can't quite tell. It's a bit after midnight my time. If you want, we can do a remote session anytime after 6am my time. Send me a PM if interested and I should be able to help you get this working.
Methodman104 10 Posted December 24, 2020 Author Posted December 24, 2020 Hello, I just wanted to post an update....about an hour after I posted last night, I noticed Emby started working remotely. I waited about 24 hours to post the update incase there were any issues again. So far everything is good. I think when the ports were open on my modem/router it took a bit of time for it to update before working. If there are anymore issues I will post in this topic again and we can take it from there. But I want to say thanks so far to everyone who responded on here. As @Cayars mentioned, I think my router/modem was updated by my internet provider and it blocked the ports....but now they seem open. But as I mentioned earlier if there are any further issues about remote connections I will post them again. Thanks again for the assistance. 1
