Downloading playlist for offline play downloads all albums but not the playlist

Maybe not evermusic, it seems very buggy. If I add one track twice to the same playlist then there is a pretty good chance that when it plays the second one it thinks it's playing the first, the animation shows on the first not the second and when it moves onto the next track it is whatever is after the 1st occurrence.

Sometimes adding the 2nd song it will get stuck at the end of the playlist. You can move it but it jumps back. If you remove the second instance then it's the first that goes.

Then there are some tracks in the song area that have multiple versions (not the ones I added twice to a playlist), if I remove the excess copies then they come back later.

I will have to keep looking for a way to have offline playlists until(if) emby implements it.

Does anyone know of a music player on iPad that could download my playlists from emby?

i use poweramp its popular and uses standard playlist formats... i kinda got side tracked on making a converter of playists to and from cellphone folder, and matching the pathways... working on an app that gives grok3 acess to my pc and speak to it like jarvis from ironman...

Doesn't appear to be on the ipad.

My requirements are pretty specific, iPad, offline, music, emby and no subscriptions.

Evermusic support never did respond to any of the half dozen issues I raised, Apple did refund me thankfully.

Still looking.

i eventually found a method to keep playlists in sync , with little effort.  although it would be really awesome if emby gets around to it and makes in there app.  i use poweramp music app on my android. it works well on android auto so i can play playlists thru car on road trips etc easly.  the trick is to get emby to use m3u playlists for there music playlists. i also have a second app on android that syncs.  i have 2 syncs one from phone to pc and other from pc to phone.  just cause most the time i change order edit playlists in emby so i click to sync from pc to phone. but sometimes i will edit playlists on poweramp , so i just sync back to pc when done.  i dont trust mirror features in sync apps to much and rarely edit playlists now that i go them back up and running again. i have the paid version of poweramp, they have a free one, that i think will do the same, but it was few bucks. the sync app i cant remember if i bought or not, but probably a few bucks.  i tested all the music apps free and paid and settled with poweramp. from what i remember the reason was. allot of the apps didnt play well with m3us on regular basis.  what i mean is they will intially inport the m3u but just keep track with there internal playlist system. which wouldnt work with syncing playlists.  emby also dose this, but they will use the m3u playlist if it was intialy created in music monitored folder, when scanned. the playlists can be blank i think , if not just put 1 song in it, and scan.  once the playlist shows up in emby, then you can add del etc in emby. doublecheck that the m3u dont put actual paths but use the generic relative paths.  once you have setup, your good to go. one thing to rememeber is if you sync to that device, that app needs restarted to realize the changes. example if syncing to pc, then after done restart emby , and changes are there.  if syncing to phone, then restart poweramp to realize the changes. like i said poweramp dose a good job of paying attention to the m3u , but still needs restarted to notice the changes.  this is the simplest method ive found, and dont believe there is any better method to do this. outside of emby making playlists work offline in there app. till then we have this as an option.

hope this helps.

Thanks @Ugnaughts,

I'm trying something similar. I use Emby on Synology NAS and I can sync music files to my phone in two directions with their Synology Drive app.|
I haven't tested playlist files yet, but I also was thinking that I should be able to put the playlist in the synced-folder an thus syncing them too.

sure , the trick mostly is making the m3u path names relative and keeping playlists same location to music as it is in both places.

For those in the same situation: I have also successfully tested a slightly better solution, that preserves the Playlists in Emby:

  1. Enable DNLA server in Emby.
  2. On the phone use Bubbleupnp to download the Playlists folder to your phone.
  3. You now have folder per playlist on your phone.
  4. I use Poweramp to play these files, because it can place a shortcut for a certain folder to the startscreen of my phone,  in shuffle-mode.
  5. By the way, my receiver (Denon, using Heos) is also able to browse the playlist files over DLNA, and play them. I was using SMB-filesharing before, but missed the playlist that way. This works okay.

Now I only need to click Download in Bubbleupnp, to update my phone. It will download all playlists created in Emby.
Of course, songs that appear in multiple playlists, will be downloaded for each playlist...
