Guest Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Folks: Is it possible to create folders or groupings within EMBY and store selected movies there. For example, I would like to create a folder "Christmas movies" and then put all my Christmas movies in that folder. Thanks. Bob
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Just now, superbobtv said: Folks: Is it possible to create folders or groupings within EMBY and store selected movies there. pwhodges 2012 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Or mark them with a "Christmas" genre. Paul

Then any christmas movie just add to collection
Guest Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Perfect! Easy Peazy with the guidance from forum members. Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 I actually use the Library option myself for this as I've got over 600 Christmas movies. I find this works better with lots of movies. So anyway a Library is another option to explore for this.
Guest Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Ummm. Interesting Cayars. Thanks. I tried the "Collections" option. And it works OK. But what I find is that it leaves the movie on the "movies" category as well as showing up in the collections. I was hoping to avoid that. It seems somewhat redundant to have categories in the Collections 'folder' but yet they still appear in the general Movies tab. Perhaps I have done something wrong when adding it to the Collection, I don't know.
pwhodges 2012 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 If you enable the setting for the movie library that displays movies within their collection, then you can get it so that the collection appears in the movie library, but its contents are only visible within the collection. Paul 1
Guest Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 pwhodges: Thanks for your reply. I believe now that I have set this up all wrong. Where do I find the enabling setting that you refer to. I have searched in Libraries and Collections but don't see anything. If I understand you correctly, when done the way you recommend, my collection of movies appears in the movie library and not as a stand alone like it does now. Can you be more specific in your instructions as I don't see the enabling feature you are referring to. Thanks. Bob
pwhodges 2012 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 On the home page of the library concerned, open the three-dot menu. Select "Group items into collections"; this will cause the collections to be displayed , and the movies in collections to be not displayed until you click on the collection. The collections in this instance act as a kind of sub-folder. Paul
muzicman0 84 Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 I also use libraries for this. I have Movies, Recorded Movies (for TV Movies), Holiday Movies, TV Shows, and Recorded TV (for DVR stuff that I haven't watched yet). Just make sure that each libraries files are in a folder that is isolated from the other libraries, for example: D:\Movies D:\Holiday Movies D:\TV Shows etc... In other words, don't make Holiday Movies a sub folder of Movies. 1
Carlo 4561 Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 One of the cool things you can do as your library builds up is to have a "Holiday" or "Specials" library using folder access. This way you can based on folder switch out the different holidays movies. Easter, Valentines day, New Years, Halloween, Christmas, etc.. If you go with "Specials" you can always use this library for newest blockbuster movies between holidays. Lots of ways to do this type of thing in Emby. No right or wrong way.
