Graphics card for server?

I just built this new media server that I want to install MB3 Server on. I am using FlexRaid-F 

 

Here is my hardware:

Do I need a GPU to run MB3 on this server?

Is there a way to make the transcoding process use the GPU instead of CPU for transcoding? I notice fairly high CPU usage when transcoding more than 1 video stream at a time, it seems that the GPU would be better suited for this task.

Currently, this isn't possible. However, if the transcoder that the server uses (FFMpeg) ever supports using the GPU to do transcoding, it will be implemented.

 

I have heard rumors that this MIGHT happen so don't give up hope on it just yet. It may be a while before this feature is added though.

The ffmpeg site would be the appropriate location to follow its feature development. Media Browser just uses it as a drop in, similar to many applications.
