Solution ebr 16184 Posted August 2, 2014 Solution Posted August 2, 2014 Not for the server at this time but we may take advantage of one eventually. 1
Blusky 1 Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Not for the server at this time but we may take advantage of one eventually. Thanks ebb. I will get a GPU when the time comes. For now will do without.
Blusky 1 Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 If/when ffmpeg supports this so will we Thank you Luke. No sense in spending the money on a GPU now for the server.
th83 1 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Is there a way to make the transcoding process use the GPU instead of CPU for transcoding? I notice fairly high CPU usage when transcoding more than 1 video stream at a time, it seems that the GPU would be better suited for this task.
thefirstofthe300 292 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Currently, this isn't possible. However, if the transcoder that the server uses (FFMpeg) ever supports using the GPU to do transcoding, it will be implemented. I have heard rumors that this MIGHT happen so don't give up hope on it just yet. It may be a while before this feature is added though. Sent from my Nexus 7
Crestj 68 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Where would we look to see any progress with this? Ffmpeg forum???
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 The ffmpeg site would be the appropriate location to follow its feature development. Media Browser just uses it as a drop in, similar to many applications.
