glennsfield 1 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 This morning for some reason, the Emby Theatre app won't playback any live TV channel. It plays channels fine using Emby in Chrome though. I get an endless spinning wheel in Emby Theatre. Also tested the WinTV app that came with the tuners, that works fine. I uninstalled Emby Theatre, reinstalled and readded the TV Tuners, still no luck. I checked WinTV 'buffer' setting and it's greater than 0 so I don't think it's that issue. theater-63744139407.txt theater-63744142670.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Hi, what does the Emby console on the server show when you start Live TV playback in Theater? Do you get any new ffmpeg log files generated? If so upload the generated ffmpeg log file so we can have a look.

Hi Cayars, It appears ffmpeg logs don't generate, only the EmbyServer_xxxxx.txt and hwdetect_xxxxx.txt Would this indicate a problem with ffmpeg? Are there steps to reinstall ffmpeg? Cheers, Glenn
glennsfield 1 Posted December 31, 2020 Author Posted December 31, 2020 Oh and I've just realised, it's not just liveTV that's failing, I can't playback downloaded movies/shows either! Works fine in VLC though. Cheers, Glenn
Carlo 4561 Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Have you tried to uninstall Theater and then reinstall it? If you haven't tried that, please give it a try.

Carlo 4561 Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Yea, I guess you said that in post one, sorry about that. Would you be open to a remote session so we can take at a look at this and try and help you?

Carlo 4561 Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 Send me a PM and we'll setup a time to do this.
glennsfield 1 Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Problem solved - for some reason my network adapter swapped from being connected to a "Private" connection to "Guest or public" . As soon as I switched it back to a "Private" Connection, playback started working again. It would be nice of Emby Theatre was able to alert the user of the port block and even make the appropriate firewall rule change.
Carlo 4561 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 What was strange about this is that Web worked locally for playback but not Theater. I could also access and use his server including playback from Theater on my side all through port 8096, but his Theater could not playback from my system yet could show all media. @glennsfield You can safely remove the Carlo user from your system now.
Carlo 4561 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I'm just happy this is now working as it was quite bizarre. I normally do not spend any where near as much time on remote as we did but we do what's needed. It didn't help how slow the connection between us was. To me the screen updates reminded me of 56K modems as I could watch the screen repaint. Ironically while remote was slow, Emby Theater on my side could direct play movies from your server. Go figure! 1
