Hi all

Ive had a little issue with my Emby setup and I need help.

I've moved from a Nvidia Shield to a new Synology DS220+ by creating a server backup and and moving my libraries. I also moved my metadata folder. It was all working fine until a couple of days ago when I noticed my metadata had been replaced and my tv seasons were missing from from the menu (Ive attached a picture). The episodes are all still there it seems only to be the tv seasons.

So I thought I'll delete my metadata folder and start again. Still no tv seasons in the menu. I dont think I made any changes that would have caused this other than update the emby server.

I tried searching the forum for a solution to this but I was not able to find any guidance. If someone could help i would be greatful.

This is my first post here. 10/10 for the guys at Emby. I love it

Thanks

Tv shows /Tv show title/Season/Episode

Thanks for your reply. I wasnt expecting anything on a sunday!

I would label my folders like this -

Curb Your Enthusiasm / Curb Your Enthusiasm S01 / Curb Your Enthusiasm S01E01

Have you created any other Emby libraries besides TV shows?

First I would correct that naming to:
Curb Your Enthusiasm / Season 01 / Curb Your Enthusiasm - S01E01

It is best to conform to correct naming 100%

I did. I created two other movie libraries that I have yet to populate with movies. This problem would have occured around the same time.

Yeah I know about this. I need to make time to go through and fix my labeling. I was happy it was working before so I didnt change it but ill try that now.

Thanks

Thanks Gilgamesh_48 and Luke.  I renamed Curb season 01 to the correct naming format and it worked! I also deleted the new libraries I created recently.

Is there any automated way to rename my tv shows correctly other than editing every file individually? Otherwise this is going to be a really tedious task.

Also, I was ignorant of file naming before but I never had a problem. I wonder why this happened now. Was it the creation of the two new movie libraries?

If you are under Windows I can highly recommend FileBot. There is another program that appears often in these forums and is said to do a good job but I cannot remember its name at this time, sorry. I understand that FileBot can even be configured to correct folder naming but I have never used it that way so I cannot help with the folder naming side of your issue.

Bad file naming sometimes works and then suddenly stops working. The reason is often hard to nail down but there are a lot of processes that take place in systems on the web and sometimes there are changes to one or more of those processes that cause a failure.

It is always best to exactly conform to Emby's requirements for file naming.

Thanks Gilgamesh_48

Ill check out FileBot. The thought of going through and renaming each episode is duanting. I wish I paid more attention to Emby's ways of naming before I started my library.

Filebot is my choice as well.  But also check out Bulk File Renamer which you might like better.

Those are the 2 utils most people use.

I just paid for a one year license with FileBot. I can rename my folders also. What an excellent tool. It would have take me hours to do this manually.

I've been using Emby now for just under a year. I've been able to find solutions to whatever issues I had, and whatever I wanted to achieve, by searching this forum and reddit but this time I was stumped. I never thought to check my file naming.

I really appreciate the help. I hope you are all keeping well in these strange times we live in.

To be honest, your original naming should have been OK, so we'll take a look at that.

He's just setting us up for the shock of the incoherent tirade that will occur when his tolerance limit is reached. He is holding a tight leash on his emotions and when the dam bursts the torrent of invective laced stream of consciousness that will be unleashed will be beyond imagination.

BTW: I know I mixed my metaphors but I don't care. ;)

Yea, it's a great tool, but has a "special" UI that takes a bit of getting used to. :)

You're right these forums are so friendly and helpful.  You can find the answer to almost anything video related here is some form.
