Refresh Internet Channels

Can someone please clarify what "Refresh Internet Channels" does?    Lately Emby seems to be slow to respond (for example, if I select Movies from the main screen, it will take a few minutes to actually display anything).  When I look at the Admin dashboard, it says it's "Refreshing Internet Channels" and on 0%.

From what I can tell, it works with the Play on and Tune in plug in, but wasn't sure what else it was associated with.  I did have the Tune in plug in installed, which I removed

It refreshes content from those plugins. The results of that are what you see when you browse them.
