aldriglikvid 4 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Hi guys! If I cast the very same movie from my Android Emby App it starts to Transcode. If I instead cast it from my Desktop I get Direct Streaming. What setting might I have pressed to cause this? Thanks!
aldriglikvid 4 Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Forgot to mention: it happens when I directly cast the video on my 4K tv via my android phone as well if I first play it on the phone, and then cast it.
Luke 42077 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Hi, can you please go over an example? What device/app are you casting to? That's really what matters, not so much the device you're casting from.

Windows 10 Desktop Casting to: Chromecast Ultra (attached to a Samsung Q60T) Casting via: Emby App (latest ver.) on a Android Phone <- when this is done the file gets transcoded (hevc x265 ac5.1 4k) Problem is repeated if I start the video first on phone, and then casts - and vice versa. Casting via: Chrome Web Browser (same desktop as server) <- when this is done the file plays directly
Luke 42077 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 I would check the Chromecast quality setting in the two apps as you might have customized it on one of them.

I only get this problem on my Android phone. Or do you call the web browser on the server as a single app as well? My Android settings were all on Auto and I've changed it now to 4k 120mbps. I'll see if that fixes it tomorrow.
Luke 42077 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Both the browser and the android app, yes. Two separate things.
