Landoman 20 Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 If you have an external player configured on windows and you accidentally click on the play button for the whole series it opens every single file in the series. This then launches 20-30 instances of the player. Not sure if this is intended behaviour. I would have expected if i play on the entire series that it would just start at the first episode and not open every single episode. It might be a good idea to put in a warning saying "do you really want to launch 20 files etc" Once its started I have to try and kill all the opened episodes or just log out to kill everything.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 (edited) Hi, Thanks for reporting this. This would not be expected behavior. Edited December 18, 2020 by cayars
Landoman 20 Posted December 23, 2020 Author Posted December 23, 2020 Hi its not just 20 files, its every single file in the entire series.. so more like 70 files. you would normal expect it to play the latest episode .this is in the desktop client.
Luke 42089 Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 What are you configuring as your external player? What happens is the app will launch one, then wait for your exe to close, then launch the next episode, so on and so forth. So it sounds like the executable is closing right away.
Landoman 20 Posted February 19, 2021 Author Posted February 19, 2021 this also happens with play nextup. now emby launches a separate instance for each file. so one episode then the next. i realised this was due to me setting the player as explorer.exe. hence opening 70 files at once however now as i have set it to the actual exe of the player if i click play on the series it now plays one episode , i close the player and it then plays another. i cannot stop it from playing. i have to restart emby to stop it.

Right, both of those features are designed to play a list of episodes, not a single episode. Have you tried just going to the episode detail screen and playing from there? Also why not just keep it simple and use the internal player?

I normally do go to the episode screen and play it from there. However sometimes i click the other one by accident. There should be some method of stopping playing an entire series besides restarting emby. Are the episodes added to a playlist? which can be stopped? Why would using an internal player stop it from playing the next episode? The internal player does not have as many features as an external player. adjusting the image, audio and so on.
Luke 42089 Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Quote Why would using an internal player stop it from playing the next episode? Hi, it wouldn't, it just would have a more graceful transition from one to the next.
