[Tizen] h265 capable hardware with series 7/8 Samsung Smart TVs, but Emby forces transcoding

Hi guys,

the subject says it all (observable via stats for nerds).

What is the issue here? Tizen AV Player should be natively able to play videos encoded in HEVC.

Please explain and I would be very grateful.

first of all, my deepest respect and regards for your work.

Secondly. I just checked and your are quite right. The reason is: Subtitle format not supported...

What would the most sensible approach be for my case?

Try using a subtitle format compatible with your TV.  If you look at the user manual you should see a chart similar to the one below.  My guess is you were using PGS or something else that needed to be burned in.  The same is true for audio.  If your TV doesn't support something then select a compatible audio format if available before clicking Play for best result.  Otherwise the server will have to convert it on the fly also.
