crfloyd0932 5 Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 added several files to my movie directory, and they never showed up, even after doing several scans. all of the file names had like volume #1, volume #2.. etc. if you drop the # from the file name, they'll add to the library. Not sure if this is limited to the linux server or not.
crfloyd0932 5 Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 server log. not seeing anything in the file that references the files in question though embyserver.txt
Luke 42078 Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Hi there, please go over an example. Thanks.

Thanks. sure thing, one file in question was Penn Central - Volume #1 (404p_30fps_H264-128kbit_AAC).mkv. Its in a home video library, and I tried scanning that library several times but the file never got added. didn't show up under folders either. as soon as I dropped the #, it added it, created thumbnails and all was good. I noticed this with the TV show DC Super Hero Girls as well as the episode titles start with # or the 'hashtag'. I thought at the time it was just because the title started with a # but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
crfloyd0932 5 Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 also i should note that this is new behavior within the last several versions of server. . i had to restore my server after a crash and all these files were present and scannable in my old server.
crfloyd0932 5 Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 one additional note, if the folder name also contains a '#' it will also skip it regardless of what the filename is in the folder.
Luke 42078 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Is the media stored on the same machine?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Is this a specific Content type issue? New portable

New portable Maybe its just a linux release issue?, I just installed server in a windows vm, and was also able to add files with a hashtag in them. i can try with a linux vm and see if its the same result. i've always run the windows version so this is my first go around with the linux release.
Luke 42078 Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Are you sure it's related to # anywhere in the name, or rather, files and folders that start with a # ?
vdrover 62 Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 (edited) I experienced this same problem today when a TV show I recorded had a hashtag in the title. After some experimentation, I discovered the following: # in the folder name was supported. # in the filename was not. The # in the filename caused the "Scan media library" task, when manually executed, to take 15-30 seconds. With the # manually removed, the scan only tool 2-3 seconds. In my example, the show name had the # in the middle: eg. `my show #special`. Edited May 4, 2022 by vdrover

vdrover 62 Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 BTW, I nearly forgot to search before posting. So glad I found this!
